Quantitative methods in polling studies.
RESUMEN Y CONTENIDOS
Lecture “Quantitative methods in polling studies” is design to present theoretical and empirical aspects of statistical methodology used in polling studies. The programme contains:
- characteristics of pooling and sounding studies: aims, limitations, advantages, and vices;
- basic methods of sampling (individual with/without replacement, nested, stratified, multi-stage, patterned, mixed),
- interval estimators of mean, fraction, and standard deviation,
- point estimators of mean, fraction, and standard deviation for various polling methods: sampling with and without replacement; stratified sampling without replacement ; nested sampling; multi-stage sampling (two-stage sampling); mixed sampling (stratified – two-stage sampling); patterned sampling.
- economic and social applications of interval and point estimators.
